How to Reset Your IPOD

If you’ve owned an iPod, then you may or may not have experienced freezes or problems with running/turning on your iPod. The issues that cause these problems may be anything, but a software glitch is usually the main issue. Resetting your iPod will most likely erase your songs, but it’s either that or lose functionality of your iPod all together. The method to reset your iPod listed here only works with iPods that have a click wheel such as:

  • iPod nano (3rd generation)
  • iPod classic
  • iPod (5th generation)
  • iPod nano (2nd generation)
  • iPod nano
  • iPod with color display (iPod photo)
  • iPod (Click Wheel)
  • iPod mini
  • iPod mini (2nd generation)

To reset your iPod, all you need to do(according to the apple website) is…

1) Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)

2) Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

If this doesn’t work, go to the apple site for more details.
